Core Beliefs about
Children's Ministry

The following statement outlines our core beliefs in relation to children’s ministry. These values provide a framework for children’s ministry curriculum, live family events, ministry workshops and other expressions of this ministry.

If I believed all this I would be as messed up as these people are.

God's Word brings faith
Children’s ministry should impart vital truth from the word of God to kids so they can build their own faith. (2 Timothy 3:14-17)

Knowledge of God
Knowing what God is like is even more vital than knowing right from wrong. It is the "knowledge of God" that gives us what we need for everything in life and godliness. (2 Peter 1:2-3)

Fun
Children’s ministry should be fun and on a level that relates to children. Children are not small adults. Even children who have been touched by the Lord are still children. (Zechariah 8:5, 1 Corinthians 13:11)

Holy Spirit empowers
God’s ability can accomplish what we could never do in our own programs and methods. We need to pray for and over the children that God brings to our care. We should ask and believe that God can do great things through us for children. (1 Peter 4:11; Matthew 19:13-15, Mark 10:13-16)

You Don’t Have To Grow Up To Serve God
Children are not the church of tomorrow; they are the church of today. People who are not saved yet are the church of tomorrow. Many children in the Bible made significant accomplishments for God while they were still children. Children can be taught to serve the Lord in significant ways. (1 Samuel 3; 1 Samuel 17; 2 Kings 22; Luke 2:49; John 6:9; Psalm 8:2; Isaiah 8:18, 2 Kings 5:3; Matthew 21:15,16)

Children Can Receive The Lord
Jesus never told the children to grow up and become adults before getting saved; He instead told the adults to become like children to enter the kingdom. Jesus taught clearly that we shouldn’t forbid the "little children" from coming to Him. Peter closed his sermon on the Day of Pentecost by declaring that the promise was for them and their children. (Matthew 18:3,4,10-14; Mark 10:13-16; Acts 2:39)

God Rewards Children's Workers
There is great reward in working in children’s ministry. Every type of service in God's kingdom is important, but people who work in children's ministry have promises from God's word that others simply do not have. Jesus did not make these types of promises to ushers, greeters, choir members, etc. (Matthew 10:42; 18:5)

Jesus Had A Children’s Ministry
Jesus would always stop whatever He was doing to minister to a child. Children's ministry is vital in the kingdom of God. (Matthew 9:18-25; 19:13-15; Mark 9:14-23; 10:13-16; Luke 18:15-17)
